This talk will demonstrate how MySQL, GlassFish, and NetBeans can be used together to create quick and powerful web applications. It shows samples of creating RESTful Web service from a MySQL table, create a JPA Persistence Unit easily using NetBeans and use it in a Web service, use MySQL for Rails development/deployment from NetBeans.

Arun Gupta is a GlassFish Evangelist focusing on Web Services and \\\"Web 2.0\\\" Applications at Sun. Arun has over 11 years of experience in software industry working in various distributed computing technologies, Java(TM) platform, C++ and several web-related technologies.

In his current role, he works very closely to create and foster the community around GlassFish and related technologies.GlassFish is a 100% open-source Java EE 5 compliant Application server from Sun Microsytems. Arun was the specification lead for Java API for XML Web services (JAX-WS) in the Java platform. JAX-WS is the standard way to create and invoke Web services in the Java platform. Arun is a committer in multiple open source projects in the GlassFish community. He has participated in several standard bodies and worked amicably with members from other companies. He has been with the Java EE team since it\\\'s inception. And since then he has contibuted to all Java EE and several Java SE (JDK) releases.
