Not being possible to update the system, please send one email with this information to speakers@softwarelivre.org.
1- Transportation to the conference
The conference will happen at Centro de Eventos da PUCRS - CEPUC. The address is Av. Ipiranga, 6681.
In case you don't have yet the arrangements for transportation, you can access a map with all the bus lines and reference points in this link:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=pt-BR&om=1&msa=0&msid=11532291...
2- At the conference center
Speakers are not required to pay subscription fees. In case you had paid your subscription before confirming your talk, we would like to inform you that it will not be possible to reimburse you the amount already paid.
There will be a separated registration desk for speakers. It is important to register yourself beforehand, to avoid long lines and delays in your talk.
Read carefully, chose your preferred license, and sign the "Term of Rights Transfer". This document is the authorization for us to distribute the recorded video of your talk later on, and also authorize the live broadcast by our Free Software TV.
3- Session rooms:
We have a "Speaker PC" in each of the rooms at the conference. The PC
is installed with Ubuntu 8.04, complete installation. The OpenOffice.org version is 2.4.
In case you'll use the "Speaker PC", check whether you are able to mount your pen drive before your session. Normally, the OS recognizes it automatically and we do not expect to have problems with that.
In case you have any special software need, be at the conference at least 1 hour before your talk to give us time to help you giving you remote access to the machine, so you can verify/setup the OS. Send one email to ttsoares AT orion.ufrgs.br (Thomas Soares, coordinator of our infrastructure).
If you want/need to use your own laptop for the presentation, it would be cool if it had 2 video out. One VGA, and one S-Video. The S-Video will be used to record the talk in the same resolution you are projecting at the room. This will improve quality of our streaming (Free Software TV). In case you can't provide that, our team will
stream de camera captured image of your talk.
The screen resolution compatible with the projectors is 800x600.
3- During the conference:
Check the printed schedule. The program of the conference may have changed after the last time your checked it. During the conference, pay attention to the panels where possible changes to the program will be published.
There is a room for exclusive access for the speakers, where you can find another members of the community and organization to request information. The location of this room will be at the map printed in the back cover of the program.
Be at the room for your talk at least 30 minutes before. It is also your responsibility to keep the conference in time. Please help us to keep the good flow of the conference.
At the room, you will find a receptionist, and a coordinator for your seesion. The receptionist will give you the certificate of your participation at the conference. The coordinator is the responsible for introducing you to the public, and also controlling the session time and the Q/A session.
The time for your session is 50 minutes total, including the Q/A, to allow spare time for the next speaker to get ready to his/her talk.
Avoid delays, and please be there for your session. In case of any problem/questions, you can contact the organization by phone: +55 (51) 8414-8005 ou +55 (51) 84365176.
