Speakers

We are still in process to select the talks submitted through our Call for Papers, and also contacting a list of potential speakers defined by the Organization Committee.

By now, our confirmed speakers are:

  • Simon PhippsSimon Phipps - Chief Open Source Officer at Sun Microsystems, co-ordinating Sun's extensive participation in free and open source software communities and actively participating in the global conversation they express.
  • Andreas Aardal HanssenAndreas Aardal Hanssen - Qt developer, and has been working on Qt APIs, internals, widgets and graphics system since 2003. He's the main architect behind Qt's Canvas API, Graphics View. Today he spends most his time researching APIs for next generation user interfaces.
  • Helio CastroHelio Castro - Mandriva open-source developer for over eight years and KDE lead-developer, primary contact for South America and Brazil.
  • Pat PattersonPat Patterson - Federation architect at Sun Microsystems, core committer and community liaison for the OpenSSO project.
  • Gregg SporarGregg Sporar - Software developer for over twenty years, working on projects ranging from control software for a burglar alarm to 3D graphical user interfaces. He works for Sun Microsystems as a Technology Evangelist on the open source NetBeans project.
  • Rafael Vanoni PolanczykRafael Vanoni Polanczyk - Solaris Kernel Software Engineer and works in the Solaris Kernel Performance group in Dublin, Ireland, on the NUMA, CMT and Tesla projects. Testing is an important part of these projects. In addition, Rafael has been active on OpenSolaris and helped establish the Brazil OpenSolaris Portal
  • Arun GuptaArun Gupta - GlassFish Evangelist focusing on Web Services and Web 2.0 Applications at Sun.
  • Roger BrinkleyRoger Brinkley - Community Leader for the Mobile & Embedded Community at Sun Microsystems.
  • Jean-Francois ArcandJean-Francois Arcand - works for Sun Microsystems. He currently leads project Grizzly, an extended NIO based framework used in multiples products. He also works on Web 2.0 topics like Ajax performance and leads the Comet activities at Sun.
  • Louis Suarez-PottsLouis Suarez-Potts - OpenOffice.org Project Community Manager. His function involves strategic planning, project management, politic and technical coordination, business development and marketing.
  • Juergen SchmidtJuergen Schmidt - Works at Sun Microsystems developing StarOffice and OpenOffice.org. Is on OpenOffice.org team since it started and, nowadays, occupies the coordination of the OpenOffice.org's API project and the co-leadership of the ODF Toolkit and the Extensions projects.
  • Theodore Ts'oTheodore Ts'o - First Linus Torvalds collaborator in America. Currently, a member of the Linux Foundation and also a system programmer at IBM.
  • Henri BergiusHenri Bergius - Co-founder of the Midgard project, a web content
    management toolkit based on the GNOME libraries.
  • Etienne DelacroixEtienne Delacroix - Visual artist and PhD at Particles and Nuclear Physics
    on College of William and Mary, Virgínia, USA. His work combines
    painting, drawing, software development and low technology
    electro-digital throw-away re-utilization (low cost modular
    electronics).
  • Jim McQuillanJim McQuillan - Founder of the Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP), a
    worldwide renowned speaker. Has worked with health support systems for
    the last twenty years with customers all around the United States.
  • Scott AnanianScott Ananian - Doctor at Computing Science on MIT. Project OLPC (One
    Laptop Per Child) developer and keepaliver.
  • Sérgio AmadeuSérgio Amadeu - Sociologist and Doctor at Politics Science on USP, Brazil. Teaches on pos-graduation at the Faculdade de Comunicação Cásper Líbero. Author of several publications, such as: "Digital Exclusion: the misery on the information era". Ex-President of the ITI (Information Technology National Institute).
  • Alberto BarrionuevoAlberto Barrionuevo - Vice-president of the Foundation for a Free Information Infrastructure (FFII).
  • Antônio TerceiroAntônio Terceiro - Member of Cooperativa COLIVRE. Free software developer, contributed in projects like Debian, TWiki and others. Activist in Projeto Software Livre Bahia. Graduated in Computer Science in UFBA. Master in Computer Science in UFRGS. Doctorate in Computer Science in DMCC.
  • Ronaldo LemosRonaldo Lemos - Coordinator of the Centro de Tecnologia e Sociedade of FGV Direito Rio and the project Creative Commons no Brasil. Member of the Comissão de Comércio Eletrônico comittee pointed for Ministério da Justiça. Founder of the following project http://www.overmundo.com.br
  • Alexandre OlivaAlexandre Oliva - co-founder and secretary of Fundação Software Livre América Latina (FSFLA).
  • Christopher BlizzardChristopher Blizzard - Christopher has been workingwith Linux Desktop and
    Mozilla since the end of 90's, in which he wrote a great part of
    the code that works as support to Mozilla on Linux.
    Recently, he acted as the front end group leader e sistema
    operacional do projeto "One Laptop per Child" and as member of
    Conselho da Mozilla Corporation and Mozilla Foundation.
  • Mitchell BakerMitchell Baker - President of Mozilla Corporation, Mitchell Baker
    was responsible for the
    organization and motivation of a huge world
    summit for employees and volunteers that give new life to
    internet through Firefox browser.
  • Chris HofmannChris Hofmann - Director of engineering and Special Projects at the Mozilla Foundation and Corporation, Chris Hofmann has spearheaded the research and development work of thousands of open source contributors around the world and has contributed to every Netscape and Mozilla browser release since 1996.
  • Randal SchwartzRandal Schwartz - Systems Administrator and programmer, Randal is co-author of many different books on Perl. He is also a co-founder of Perl Mongers and one of the most respected people among the Perl community. Today, he works as a consultant on software development, and is a co-host of the FLOSS Weekly podcast.
  • Bram MoolenaarBram Moolenaar - Software Engineer at Google, in Zurich, Bram is the father of VIM, one of the most used text editors by Unix sysadmins and developers all over the world.
  • Ken CoarKen Coar -Ken Coar is a software developer and open development evangelist. He is probably best known for his association with The Apache Software Foundation and the ApacheCon series of user conferences.
    He is currently a Senior Software Engineer in the Information Management division of IBM.
  • Rishab GhoshRishab Ghosh - Open Source Initiative board member. Amongst other things, he is Founding International and Managing Editor of peer-reviewed journal First Monday, and Programme Leader of FLOSS at UNU-MERIT. He has undertaken several global, high-profile studies on Free Software.
  • Arnaldo Carvalho de MeloArnaldo Carvalho de Melo - One of the founders of Conectiva, has participated in many projects as starting the kernel janitors effort, porting and merging a LLC 802.2 network stack into the 2.6 Linux kernel codebase, made the IPX network stack codebase fully multithreaded and in conformance with the latest core networking infrastructure, among other important network projects of the Linux Kernel.
  • David FetterDavid Fetter - PostgreSQL project developer.
  • Jon Maddog HallJon Maddog Hall - Executive Director of Linux International.
  • Michael HanselmannMichael Hanselmann - Michael Hanselmann works as a system administrator at Google Switzerland, where his main focus is the development of Ganeti. He runs his own hosting project for more than five years, has been a Gentoo developer for 3½ years and contributed code to various Open Source projects, including the Linux kernel.
